Health Division

The Health Division of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® strives to advance the use of consumer-based, technology-enabled health solutions to deliver better health outcomes and reduce overall health care cost.

Key Initiatives

  • Provide CTA members with educational and networking opportunities in the health and fitness technology space.
  • Conduct market research around health and fitness technology devices, products and services.
  • Educate industry stakeholders about health and fitness technology products and services.
  • Ensure that health and fitness technology devices, services and apps can thrive in a sound regulatory environment that balances innovation with safety and privacy.
  • Support standards initiatives to create performance benchmarks or other standards to advance consumer acceptance of the wearables industry.

Advocacy Projects

The Health Division worked with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other relevant government agencies and law makers to advance technology enabled value-based health care and promote a sound regulatory and legislative environment that balances innovation with safety and privacy.

    Advancing Health Equity and the Role of Health Technology

    Join the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®️, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), and leading healthcare experts as they delve into the recently published report, "Leveraging Digital Health Tools to Advance Health Equity," from the National Center for Primary Care (NCPC) at MSM. The effects of digital health on equity will be discussed, along with the essential policy measures needed to leverage digital health tools to overcome present challenges in providing quality healthcare, improving health outcomes, and addressing long-standing inequalities.

    The Health Division helps to produce actionable data regarding market challenges, behavior patterns, awareness and/or usage of health, wellness, and fitness products, and solutions that demonstrate the value of these products and services.

    Health Fitness & Wellness Committee - R11

    CTA's Health Fitness & Wellness Committee develops standards, recommended practices, and related documentation for consumer health and fitness technology, including fixed, portable and wearable health and fitness devices. All are encouraged to join the Health Fitness & Wellness Committee and participate in its activities. The Health Fitness & Wellness Committee is particularly interested in adding new members (called "users" who acquire health & fitness products from those who create them) and those with a general interest.
