CTA Launches Development for Self-Testing QRNG Evaluation and Disclosure

Published on August 2026

CTA’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Management Committee (R14) has recently launched a project to develop CTA-2145, Evaluation and Disclosure Criteria for Self-Testing Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNGs). This document will establish evaluation criteria for self-testing (self-certifying) QRNGs, a class of devices that certifies its entropy output in real time through quantum measurement, distinct from the purely statistical methods used to assess randomness today.
