The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® will welcome U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) to its next Board of Industry Leaders (BIL) meeting. Both policy leaders will deliver remarks to the BIL – comprised of executives from CTA member companies – on April 15.

“We’re thrilled to host Sec. Raimondo and Rep. McMorris Rodgers,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “Both of these high-caliber leaders have strong records of supporting pro-innovation policies. We look forward to a meaningful and engaging discussion on our priorities including increasing access to 5G, protecting free online speech, promoting U.S. exports, and more.”

CTA’s BIL involves accomplished leaders from CTA's member companies who have broad experience in the consumer technology sector and represent the industry's interests. The BIL serves CTA and the Executive Board in an advisory role, supporting public policy and association activities. Bridget Karlin, global CTO and vice president, Technology, Innovation & Automation, IBM Global Technology Services, will preside as CTA’s Executive Board Chairman.

While governor of Rhode Island, Sec. Raimondo wrote a letter of introduction for the 2018 CTA U.S. Innovation Scorecard highlighting state initiatives implementing business-friendly policies. Rep. McMorris Rodgers was recognized as a 2017 CTA Digital Patriot for her advocacy to champion innovation policies for U.S. innovation.

The BIL Meeting takes place during CTA’s Annual Tech Week, April 14-15, which consists of Innovation Policy Summit and Lobby Day. Sec. Raimondo and Rep. McMorris Rodgers join a strong lineup of luminaries from Congress, the Biden Administration and the tech sector for this week’s all-digital event.

The BIL Meeting is not open to members of the press, but media can attend the Innovation Policy Summit portion of CTA Tech Week. Click here to register for CTA Tech Week
