Tech & Standards Awards

Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® Technology & Standards Program recognizes individuals for their commitment to excellence as shown by their participation in CTA’s Technology & Standards program. Recipients are selected by CTA staff and the leadership of the Technology & Standards Councils, with final approval by the CTA president and CEO.

Nominations are open year-round and are awarded on an annual basis.

  • David McIntyre

    CTA Technology Leadership Award

    For his leadership, expertise and commitment in the role of Chair of CTA’s Technology Council and across the CTA standards Program.

    David McIntyre is Head of AI Strategy & Operations at Xperi, where he leads the company’s AI strategy and transformation. Previously, he was on the founding team and served as Vice President of Marketing at Perceive, an edge AI chip company acquired by Amazon in 2024. He also served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Standards at Xperi, leading corporate strategy and an international team across more than 30 standards bodies and industry consortia. David currently serves as Chair of the Consumer Technology Association Technology Council and holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from McGill University.

  • Thomas Wilson

    CTA Technology Leadership Award

    For his valued leadership, expertise and commitment as a key contributor in CTA’s Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Working Group (R13 WG1).

    Thomas Wilson, PhD, DrPH, is an independent pragmatic epidemiologist specializing in population health programs, AI-based predictive health solutions, and real-world evidence. He has more than 30 years of experience designing studies and improving population health programs, with expertise spanning mental and behavioral health, oncology, cardiovascular disease, and disease management. He has served on the faculties of UC Berkeley and Columbia University and was a Fulbright awardee at the University of the West Indies. Wilson is currently an active member of CTA’s committee on AI in health care and Chief Epidemiologist for Trajectory Health AI.

  • Garry Carneal

    CTA Technology Achievement Award

    For his recognition of valued leadership, expertise and commitment as chair of CTA’s Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Working Group (R13 WG1).

    Garry Carneal is President and CEO of Schooner Strategies, where he leads a healthcare accreditation incubator with more than three decades of experience in quality improvement and regulatory compliance. Since 1996, he has brought 30 accreditation programs to market across five agencies, helping establish national standards in managed care, diagnostic imaging, digital health, and behavioral health. He also serves as President and CEO of RadSite, LLC, and is Workgroup Chair for CTA’s R13 WG01 Artificial Intelligence in Health Care. Carneal holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, an MA from Yale University, and a BA from Washington and Lee University.

  • Vaibhav Garg "VG"

    CTA Technology Achievement Award

    For his commitment as chair of CTA’s Post- Quantum Cryptography for IoT Working Group (R14 WG10).

    Vaibhav Garg is Executive Director of Cybersecurity & Privacy Research and Public Policy Research at Comcast Cable. He holds a PhD in Security Informatics from Indiana University and an M.S. in Information Security from Purdue University. He has coauthored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and received two patents. Garg previously served as Editor in Chief of ACM Computers & Society and received the 2015 ACM SIGCAS Outstanding Service Award. He was also awarded the 2025 Wilt J. Hildenbrand Rising Leader Award. His research focuses on cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and public policy, and he is an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy and an IEEE Senior Member.

  • Beenish Zia

    CTA Technology Achievement Award

    In recognition of valued leadership, expertise and commitment as co-chair of CTA’s Women’s Health Working Group (R11 WG17)

    Beenish Zia is an electrical engineer and Chief Architect for Medical Imaging & Lab Tools at Intel Corporation, where she focuses on technology solutions spanning artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, medical imaging, diagnostics, and life sciences. She serves as Co-Chair of the Consumer Technology Association Women’s Health Standards Committee, working with industry stakeholders to advance standards in women’s health technology. Zia and committee workgroup members authored and published the first CTA Women’s Health standard. She has been recognized as a Top Woman in Engineering by the State of Oregon and has received multiple honors, including the 2023 Rising Beyond the Ceiling Award.
