CTA to Develop Standard on Fall Detection Digital Health Technologies

Published on February 2026

CTA’s Health, Fitness and Wellness Committee (R11) has recently launched a project to develop a standard, CTA-2142, Use Cases, Applications, and Performance Requirements for Fall Detection Digital Health Technologies, which identifies use cases and applications for fall-related events by ambulatory individuals that may be detected by digital health technologies used in everyday life. This document also outlines testing methodology and reporting requirements for these technologies. Note, this standard does not address fall detection systems used in a clinical setting.
