Tech Industry Mourns Legendary Publisher Richard Ekstract

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, regarding the passing of publisher Richard Ekstract. 

"Publisher Richard Ekstract started more than a dozen business periodicals during a 40-year period, including Consumer Electronics Monthly, Autosound Communications, Video Review, Video Business and TWICE. He was inducted into the Consumer Technology Hall of Fame in 2002 for his lasting contributions to the tech industry. He attended the first-ever CES and served as a moderator at the show for over a decade. 

CT Hall of Famer Richard Ekstract helped build and chronicle the consumer technology industry. He helped it grow from three products (TV, radio and phonograph) to the scores of products we have today. His legacy will live on through the many publications and platforms he created that grew interest in technology over generations and propelled the industry forward. We share our deepest condolences with Richard’s family and loved ones."
