The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA), regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in the TC Heartland v. Kraft Foods Group Brands case:

"The Supreme Court's unanimous decision sends a strong message to patent trolls: knock it off. Now small and medium-sized businesses have a fairer chance of fighting against bogus patent extortion attempts. Patent abuse costs the U.S. economy more than $80 billion a year.
