CTA President & CEO: USMCA Advances American Innovation

June 29, 2026

ARLINGTON, VA – June 29, 2026 – The following statement on is attributed to Kinsey Fabrizio, President and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®:

“USMCA gives businesses the certainty they need to invest, build, innovate, and grow. It creates an integrated market of nearly 500 million consumers and allows the U.S., Mexico and Canada to compete as a region, innovating and building the technologies that will shape our future.

As China races to lead in AI and other emerging technologies, the U.S. can’t afford to compete alone. USMCA's modern digital trade rules and integrated supply chains help ensure big innovations—and the investment and high-skill jobs that come with them—are born and built in North America.

Americans want technology that's affordable, innovative, and available. USMCA helps deliver all three. Pulling out of the agreement or allowing it to lapse would do the opposite, costing Americans billions and throwing the brakes on American-led innovation. We urge negotiators to preserve and strengthen USMCA as a cornerstone of North American competitiveness and technology leadership.”

Trade and Tariffs

International trade is vital to the consumer technology sector. Global supply chains are intricate and often take decades to develop. Unfair trade practices should be addressed at the World Trade Organization and with our global allies. Opening global markets, not closing them, spurs economic competitiveness.
