One Nation, One Rulebook, CTA Lauds Administration’s National AI Framework
March 20, 2026
ARLINGTON, VA – March 20, 2026 – The following statement is attributed to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®:
“President Trump recognizes an American-led AI future will unlock economic growth and spark innovation. His framework offers real steps to make that happen.
We welcome the White House request for congressional action to advance AI innovation. One rulebook for AI will end the chaos of conflicting state AI laws. A patchwork slows innovation and hits startups and small businesses the hardest. With one set of rules, American founders, engineers, and technology leaders can focus on what they do best: inventing the future and keeping America the leader in AI innovation.
Global competitors like China are moving fast with unified national AI strategies. The U.S. risks falling behind if innovators must navigate 50 different state rules, our workforce is not ready, or we cannot meet the energy needs of our AI future. To win the AI race, our nation needs a single, clear national standard passed by Congress and signed into law by the President.
We applaud the White House's positive focus on AI. AI can and will make us better, and we agree that children need special protection, first amendment rights are paramount, harmful deep fakes should be regulated, and Congress should not act to restrict AI platforms from relying on fair use protections."
