The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ today announced it will feature the work of several of its standards committees and host a networking reception for the Alliance Community at CES® 2017 - the global stage for innovation - Jan. 5-8 in Las Vegas, NV. 

"Throughout the year, CTA's Technology & Standards department engages over 1,000 industry volunteers in collaborative efforts to advance new technologies and enhance existing ones," said Dave Wilson, vice president, Technology & Standards, CTA. "We are very pleased to feature some of this work at CES and again host the Alliance Community Reception - a terrific networking opportunity for people interested in connecting with industry alliances."

Conferences and special events at CES 2017 include: 

   •    Alliance Community Reception
        4-6 PM Friday, Jan. 6, Venetian Ballroom Bellini 2005
             o    The reception will offer the opportunity to learn about consumer technology alliances and reach out to potential members. Platinum sponsors for this event include FIDO Alliance, Khronos Group, MHL, Trusted Computing Group and Virtual. Gold sponsors include HSA Foundation, Kavi and MIPI Alliance. All registered CES attendees are welcome to attend.

   •    Consumer Health Data Goes to the Doctor
        11:30-12:30 PM Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, LVCC Room N261
             o    This conference session will cover the latest thinking on to how data gets to your doctor from your fitness tracker, and how your data will be used. This session will be moderated by the Health & Fitness Technology Division Standards Co-Chairman Matthew Diamond, MD, Ph.D, Fossil Group, as part of the CES Lifestyle Technology Track.

   •    You Can Hear Me Now: PSAPs
         1-2:00 PM Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, LVCC Room N253
             o    This panel will discuss a new standard defining performance metrics for consumer products that provide personal sound amplification and hearing enhancement, including future opportunities for standards and consideration of industry product marks/self-certification. Bill Belt, senior director of Technology & Standards, CTA, will moderate the session.

    •    How's Your Cyber Security Initiative Going?
          2:15-3:15PM Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, LVCC Room N253
              o    This conference session will review a new CTA tool enabling companies to measure their internal efforts to address product security and compare their results with other companies. Mike Bergman, senior director of Technology & Standards, CTA, will present the tool and associated industry data.

   •    Interoperability Quest: OTT Video, WebApps and CE
         3:30-4:30PM Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, LVCC, Room N253
              o    This conference session will discuss the WAVE Project, an effort to make commercial internet video seamlessly interoperable across device types using fewer files through common usage of HTML5 and associated industry standards. Paul Hearty, Ph.D., Sony Electronics, will moderate the session.
