Article Summary

In recognition of Federal Communications Commissioner (FCC) Mignon Clyburn’s final week at the FCC, Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA said, "Commissioner Clyburn has always been dedicated to the American consumer. Before joining the FCC, she was a state regulator, newspaper publisher and civic leader. In her role – and during her time as the first acting chairwoman – Clyburn was a thoughtful public servant who actively engaged with new technologies. Her goal was to give a voice to the voiceless and to promote technology as a vehicle for good. My thanks are shared by CTA’s members.”

The following statement is in recognition of Federal Communications Commissioner (FCC) Mignon Clyburn’s final week at the FCC:

“Commissioner Clyburn has always been dedicated to the American consumer. My thanks are shared by CTA’s members,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA).

“I’m honored to have welcomed her to nine CES shows during her tenure at the FCC, and hope she will join us at CES 2019 to see her strong legacy on full display,” said Julie Kearney, vice president, regulatory and government affairs, CTA.

Commissioner Clyburn was a strong proponent on the commission for allocating more spectrum for wireless broadband. “The most important thing is getting more spectrum for the kinds of devices filling the more than two million square feet of displays at CES,” Commissioner Clyburn said at CES 2017.
