“Governor Newsom made the right decision to veto SB 1047— a bill that would have created barriers for developers and worsened the state’s budget deficit," said Gary Shapiro, CEO of CTA. “We need a national AI framework that takes a balanced approach to ensure AI systems are managing risk, while allowing businesses flexibility to innovate and avoiding a confusing patchwork of state-level AI bills.”
