The following statement is attributed to Doug Johnson, vice president of technology, Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and member of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) UAS Registration Task Force, regarding the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruling on the FAA’s drone registration system:
“As a member of the FAA’s registration task force, we believe the registration system serves a purpose in aviation safety. The marketplace and consumers have responded favorably to the registration, with over 820,000 operators registered today, including more than 745,000 hobbyists. A positive, collaborative approach among a wide range of stakeholders contributed to the rollout and success of the drone registration rule, and we look forward to continued collaboration with policymakers and stakeholders on policy for this amazing technology."
CTA is a supporting member of the safety campaign 'Know Before You Fly,' which provides prospective drone operators with the information and guidance they need to fly safely and responsibly.
