The following statement is attributed to Steve Ewell, executive director, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® Foundation, on the passing of longtime Foundation board member L. Dennis Shapiro.

“Dennis Shapiro was a generous and fierce advocate for the CTA Foundation and its mission – to link seniors and people with disabilities with technologies that enhance their lives. We will miss him greatly.

“Dennis believed in the power of technology to help make our lives better. He joined the Foundation board in 2018, bringing experience from a long career in the industry – including almost 30 years as chairman of Lifeline Systems – and a passion for tech innovations that help seniors live more connected and safer lives. Dennis not only gave his time and support generously to the Foundation, he strongly encouraged his fellow board members to do the same. He also helped us forge stronger relationships between CTA member companies and the organizations the Foundation supports, giving innovative tech solutions a better opportunity to come to market and help consumers.

“Throughout his time on the board, Dennis never failed to attend and contribute to each meeting we had. We will all miss his strength and innovative spirit.”
