The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® – owner and producer of CES®, the most influential technology event in the world – today announced Jamie Susskind will join the organization as vice president of policy and regulatory affairs. Susskind will provide expertise on industry priorities such as accessibility, consumer privacy and high-speed broadband.

“We’re fortunate to have Jamie join CTA during such a transitional time for wireless connectivity, as we move deeper into 5G – the platform technology for self-driving vehicles, smart cities and other game-changing innovations,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “The FCC has a paramount role in helping our nation lead the world in 5G development, and Jamie knows the intricacies of the commission’s work especially well.”

Susskind joins CTA from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), where she served in several capacities during her two tenures there. Most recently, she was chief of staff to Commissioner Brendan Carr, focusing on wireline and consumer protection issues. Previously, Susskind served as acting assistant division chief of the Pricing Policy Division, legal advisor to the Wireline Competition Bureau Chief and attorney advisor.

While at the FCC, Susskind was detailed to the U.S. Senate as counsel to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation's Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation and the Internet. She then transitioned from the FCC to serve as chief counsel to Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE), working closely with the Senate Commerce and Judiciary Committees.

Susskind received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and J.D. from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.

CES is the only global event that brings together the full 5G and mobile connectivity ecosystem. With exhibitors including Qualcomm and T-Mobile, and 2019 keynotes from the CEOs of Verizon and AT&T Communications, global mobile operators see CES as the hub for 5G innovation, where they’ll find partners and applications for our 5G future.
