The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, regarding the Senate confirmation of Nathan Simington to be a Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

“We congratulate Nathan Simington on his Senate confirmation to be an FCC Commissioner. The FCC advances policies that are essential to U.S. technology leadership–from increasing spectrum access to building infrastructure to equipment authorizations. We look forward to working with Commissioner Simington and his colleagues to continue the momentum that Chairman Pai set in motion when he assumed leadership of the FCC.

“When Chairman Pai steps down in January, the FCC will be deadlocked. As such, we urge the commission to work together in a bipartisan way to achieve shared goals, focus on those issues that are core to the agency’s mission and remain consistent with our free-enterprise values as a nation.”
