The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, in regards to the close of the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) TV broadcast spectrum incentive auction.

“Today, the FCC completed an important step in its mission to release more spectrum for wireless broadband – a critical resource for the wireless industry as it continues to find new and innovative ways to meet consumers' growing demand for anytime, anywhere connectivity. We applaud the FCC for its tireless work on the successful execution of the nation’s first TV broadcast spectrum auction. This historic effort navigated hundreds of participants while preserving coverage areas of broadcasters and meeting Congress’ goal of expanding access to wireless broadband. We look forward to seeing new, innovative solutions from the federal government to free-up access to this much-needed resource.”
