CTA has long said that the United States needs to lead the world on AI innovation and AI policy that supports entrepreneurs, startups, and the broader AI ecosystem. Our recent research shows that 73% of Americans think the federal government should lead on AI policy, but only 29% think the U.S. is currently doing so. Today’s Executive Order represents continued progress toward that goal, but Congress still needs to act to ensure that American innovators and consumers can safely and efficiently deliver and use AI technology to improve lives and solve big world problems. The provisions aimed at increasing highly skilled immigration also represent a positive step in the right direction.

In September, CTA released its National AI Policy and Regulatory Framework, and we will continue to work with Congress and the Administration to help achieve comprehensive, innovation-friendly AI policy that delivers the balanced approach America needs.
