The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, regarding the Biden Administration’s announcement it will revive the International Entrepreneur Rule (IER), reversing the proposal under the Trump Administration to end the IER program.

“We thank the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for considering and acting on CTA’s recommendation to revive the IER. The administration’s decision means the world’s entrepreneurs can come here and create jobs, fueling our economic growth and preserving the American spirit of opportunity and creativity.

“Our nation’s immigration system needs to be modernized, and this rule is a step in the right direction. We support efforts by both the administration and Congress to streamline and make America’s immigration system more competitive and successful. We must continue to attract the best and brightest to innovate here in the United States.”

Earlier this year, CTA submitted a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, congratulating him on his new appointment and urging the administration to move forward with reviving the IER, and working to ensure its success.
