CTA’s Fall Forum welcomed leaders in innovation to San Francisco to collaborate in advancing the consumer industry. The annual three-day event features networking opportunities, standards development and conversations shaping what’s next. Executives, policymakers and strategists come together to not only look towards the industry’s future as they assess current needs, but also to recognize their peers whose ingenuity has propelled technology forward.

This year’s Technology & Standards Awards ceremony celebrated years of transformative contributions to consumer technology, by visionaries who embody exceptional leadership and an unwavering commitment to progress. Nominated by their colleagues, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® is honored to congratulate this year’s award winners.

Currently serving as Chair of the Technology Council, David McIntyre received the Technology Leadership Award in recognition of his significant contributions to CTA’s technology and standards initiatives. Since taking on the role, he has helped shape CTA’s work on AI — using technical conversations to bridge real-time gaps in an ever-changing political landscape. McIntyre previously led AR/VR activities and has reliably served as a key participant in CTA’s standards program. As the Head of AI Strategy & Operations at Xperi, he also spearheads the company’s AI strategy and transformation across all aspects of the business — representing more than 30 standards bodies and industry consortia.

Health specialist, Dr. Thomas Wilson, was also awarded the Technology Leadership Award for his notable contributions to CTA’s Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Working Group (R13 WG1). As Chief Epidemiologist for Trajectory® Health AI, Wilson uses his expertise to provide significant insight and guidance for the group’s work. Since joining the working group, Wilson has played an active role in advancing its mission, helping strengthen its impact through thoughtful leadership and meaningful contributions to draft standards.

The Technology Achievement Awards honored three innovators who have distinguished themselves through their significant involvement within CTA’s Technology & Standards program:

• Garry Carneal

  President and CEO of RadSite, LLC, Carneal was recognized for his valued leadership as Chair of CTA’s Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Work Group. Since joining, he has swiftly become a trusted resource for his peers, offering meaningful knowledge in the accreditation space and better ways to understand how to activate standards and industry best practices. Carneal’s initiative has made him vital in promoting the value of CTA’s work and encouraging greater engagement throughout the industry.

• Vaibhav Garg “VG”

  As Executive Director of Cybersecurity & Privacy Research and Public Policy Research at Comcast Cable, Garg was celebrated for his commitment as Workgroup Chair for the Consumer Technology Association’s Post-Quantum Cryptography for IoT (R14 WG10). His invaluable leadership has ensured the group accomplishes objectives at a quick pace and has contributed to the drafting and publication of CTA-2137, which addresses effective methods to incorporate post-quantum cryptography into IoT devices.

• Beenish Zia

  An electric engineer and Chief Architect for Medical Imaging & Lab Tools at Intel Corporation, Zia was honored for her expertise as co-chair of CTA’s Women’s Health Working Group (R11 WG17). Under her leadership, the group authored and published the first-ever CTA Women’s Health standard, marking her influence as a pillar in the development and adoption of technology in a rapidly evolving field
