U.S. leadership in AI isn’t just a tech issue — it’s an economic and geopolitical imperative. The emergence of AI represents a once-in-a-generation leap forward in human capability, comparable in scale and consequence to the advent of electricity or the internet. The private sector has a vital role to play, and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® is proud to be at the table.

CTA is committed to ensuring America leads on this transformational technology through strong policy, public-private partnerships and the bold innovations we highlight each year at CES® — the most powerful tech event in the world. Our AI Working Group supports the advancement of AI technologies through market research, public promotion and advocacy for pro-innovation policy.

This summer, we have continued to build off our foundational CTA Innovation Agenda and engage with leaders in government who are also committed to advancing technology policy that supports American competitiveness, boosts AI adoption and builds the workforce of the future.

CTA hosted a fireside chat with White House Office of Science & Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios highlighting the Administration’s newly released Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan — a blueprint for American leadership in AI.

Our CEO and Vice Chair Gary Shapiro welcomed Kratsios to the CTA Innovation House on Capitol Hill, following a powerful, agenda-setting AI speech from President Trump a day earlier. The discussion focused on what’s at stake in the global race for AI and how we can ensure that the next world-changing innovations are born and grow in the United States. The White House AI Action Plan aligns with our own innovation agenda including:

  • Cutting regulatory red tape for AI developers
  • Mobilizing energy and infrastructure resources needed to scale AI
  • Laying the foundation for stronger public-private partnerships

We also called on Congress to pause the flurry of state-level bills that make it difficult for businesses to operate and advocated for legislation establishing a clear national AI policy. CTA’s AI policy framework helps inform the discussion around setting national guardrails for AI, while allowing innovation to flourish. The purpose of our policy is to create an ecosystem of uniformly trustworthy AI systems upon which consumers can rely, so it applies to organizations of all shapes and sizes.

CTA members and CES exhibitors are already shaping an AI-led future that is improving productivity, accessibility, healthcare, mobility and more. CES 2026 will feature the launch of CES Foundry — a new destination dedicated to accelerating breakthroughs in AI, blockchain and quantum technologies. From AI ethics to enterprise transformation, quantum security to decentralized finance, CES Foundry is where futures are forged. We hope to see you there. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

Join our community of innovators and shape the future of technology.
