Celebrating Innovation and Influence: Honoring Leaders at CTA’s Technology & Standards Fall Forum

September 25, 2025

  • Author: CTA Staff

Each year, CTA’s Technology & Standards Fall Forum brings together the brightest minds in consumer technology for four days of collaboration, learning and progress. Engineers, CTOs, product designers and innovators gather to shape the future of tech through standards development and strategic dialogue. But beyond the curated sessions and peer-to-peer networking, the event also serves as a stage to honor those who have made exceptional contributions to the industry.

This year’s Technology & Standards Awards Ceremony was a powerful reminder of the individuals driving innovation, equity and excellence across the tech landscape.

With more than 25 years of dedicated service to CTA’s Technology & Standards program, Jon Fairhurst was honored with the CTA Service Award. His leadership and technical expertise have helped shape the consumer technology industry, making him a cornerstone of progress and collaboration. Fairhurst’s long-standing commitment reflects the spirit of the Forum — advancing technology through shared knowledge and community.

A visionary in digital health, Bakul Patel received the Technology Leadership Award for his role in forming and leading CTA’s Health AI Planning Council. As Senior Director of Global Digital Health Regulatory Strategy at Google, Patel is helping build a unified digital health strategy aligned with global regulatory needs.

This year’s Technology Achievement Awards recognized four trailblazers whose work is transforming standards and expanding the reach of consumer technology:

  • Sheena D. Franklin
Founder & CEO of K’ept Health, Franklin was honored for her leadership in forming CTA’s Women’s Health Working Group. Her advocacy for data equity and infrastructure in women’s health is reshaping how health data is captured and applied. With a background in policy and a nationally recognized speaker, Franklin is driving innovation at the intersection of women’s health, policy and technology.
  • Adam Goldberg
As Director of Technical Standards at Sony Electronics, Goldberg was recognized for his work in enhancing CTA’s cybersecurity standards through the addition of a JSON structure. With more than 30 years in the standardization, development and deployment of digital television technologies, Goldberg continues to influence the evolution of secure, efficient tech ecosystems.
  • Dr. Nan-Wei Gong
A serial entrepreneur and CEO of FIGUR8, Dr. Gong was honored for her development of ANSI/CTA-2128, a standard for Physical Activity Monitoring for Human Gait Biometrics. Her work is revolutionizing musculoskeletal care through AI-driven biomarkers, offering new possibilities for digital health and rehabilitation.
  • Scott Register
As VP of Security Solutions at Keysight, Register received recognition for his leadership in developing CTA-2133, the Cybersecurity Label Test Report Format. With decades of experience in cybersecurity and active roles in CTA and IEEE working groups, Register is helping shape the future of secure consumer technologies, including medical devices, automotive systems and IoT.
