CES 2023

As calls to fight climate change intensify, technology companies continue to find ways to become part of the solution. Many will share their ambitious goals at CES® 2023, including how they’ve reduced emissions through improved energy efficiency, responsible recycling and sustainable materials management.

The greater Las Vegas region and CES host resorts also share this commitment to sustainability. Here are a few noteworthy achievements:

5%

Share of the valley’s water supply used by Las Vegas resorts

To conserve water, most resorts have implemented sophisticated water management systems, developed new design standards for restrooms and kitchens and made changes to landscaping measures.

24%

Share of Nevada energy power that comes from renewable resources

Some major casino resort companies have developed off-site solar arrays, while other properties depend on solar power to offset energy consumption.

100%

Energy offset by Wynn’s 160-acre solar facility in Fallon, NV, which powers 560,000 square feet of convention space (and up to 75% of the peak power demands of the resort).

56M

Number of meals distributed by Three Square Food Bank

That’s the equivalent of more than 68 million pounds of food. Community partners include MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment and the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Las Vegas Convention Center also remains committed to reducing its carbon footprint by consuming less energy, gas and water. LVCC achieved these milestones in 2022:

Reduced outdoor water use by 105,000 gallons, or 38%, largely through converting landscaping and installing low-flow water fixtures

Diverted 69% of 1,500 tons of waste from landfills

Converted 24,000 gallons of grease into biofuel
