Momentum to Act on Immigration Reform Is Now, Says CTA

Arlington, VA – October 3, 2017 –

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA), on recently-introduced congressional legislation to address America's critical need to fix our broken immigration system:
"Congress needs to take serious steps to fix our broken immigration system. Just as it's unacceptable to deport DACA beneficiaries who were brought to the United States as children, it's illogical to send away U.S.-educated foreign students with advanced STEM degrees and hand these talented workers to our nation's competitors.
"Dreamers, international students, foreign-born entrepreneurs and other immigrants - they're all important contributors to the strength and economic success of the U.S. That's why CTA is supporting the DREAM Act (S. 1615, H.R. 3440), the RAC Act (H.R. 1468), the SUCCEED Act (S. 1852), the Startup Act (S. 1877), the State Sponsored Visa Pilot Program Act (S.1040) and the Protect and Grow American Jobs Act (H.R. 170).
"We and all those supporting these bills have a clear message for Congress: we need to address and repair our outdated immigration system. And to do so, Congress must provide a legal path for immigrants to build businesses in America, create jobs, grow our economy and end unacceptable abuses of our visa programs by outsourcing companies."
