CTA Thanks FTC Chairwoman Ramirez for Her Leadership and Vision

Arlington, VA – January 13, 2017 –
The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, regarding Chairwoman Edith Ramirez's announcement that she will resign from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC):

"Chairwoman Ramirez has served seven years, including four as chairwoman, and has done so with extraordinary competence, strong leadership and bipartisanship resulting in a strong and effective FTC. Under her guidance, the commission tackled big issues including privacy and the Internet of Things, and managed to protect consumers while giving businesses guardrails that encouraged innovation. We greatly appreciate what she has done for our nation."

Chairwoman Ramirez recently sat down with Gary Shapiro at CES ® 2017 - the world's gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies - to discuss consumer privacy, the Internet of Things, patent trolls and the sharing economy.
