Reallocation of Federal Spectrum Is a Must

Arlington, VA – October 6, 2015 –
The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, regarding House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on communications' hearing on The Federal Spectrum Incentive Act (H.R. 1641):
"Consumers need more spectrum for mobile broadband as they want and expect their tablets and smartphones will get video. To ensure that our nation has enough supply to keep up with demand, we need the effective and efficient use of spectrum, both commercially and by government. By incentivizing federal government users to consider terminating or sharing existing spectrum assignments, Congress will free up spectrum that will improve wireless innovation and job creation. We thank Reps. Brett Guthrie (R-KY), Doris Matsui (D-CA) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) for pushing forward innovative, bipartisan legislation that addresses our spectrum crunch and achieves deficit reduction."
