CEA Praises Introduction of the Federal Spectrum Incentive Act

Arlington, VA – March 26, 2015 –
The following statement is attributable to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® in support of the introduction of The Federal Spectrum Incentive Act from Senator’s Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Representatives Doris Matsui (D-Calif.) and Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.):
“This legislation represents an important step forward in helping the American consumer by incentivizing federal government spectrum users to make available highly valuable spectrum for wireless broadband and streamlining their relocation. As demand for today’s data-intensive devices and services surges, our nation’s innovators require more and more spectrum to keep up. This bill will provide appropriate incentives for all agencies to quickly vacate or share spectrum, ensuring that consumers have access to the most robust mobile broadband networks. We commend the sponsors of this bill for introducing this important bipartisan and bicameral legislation.”
