CEA Joins United for Patent Reform Coalition

Arlington, VA – March 4, 2015 –

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA announced today it has joined United for Patent Reform (UPR), a diverse group of businesses and industries working to ensure Congress stops patent litigation abuse:

“CEA is excited to join a broad coalition aimed at stopping the patent troll assault on the U.S. economy," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. "A tsunami of bogus patent claims is killing jobs and innovation, while costing the U.S. economy $1.5 billion a week. Republicans, Democrats and the White House all agree that the patent extortion racket must be stopped. Congress must expeditiously pass the Innovation Act to hold patent trolls accountable for their frivolous lawsuits and baseless threats.”

Right now, CEA’s Innovation Movement is leading a grassroots advocacy campaign to urge Congress to pass the Innovation Act. To learn more about the campaign and join our efforts, visit
