CEA Mourns Loss of CE Industry Legend Carl Korn

Arlington, VA – April 10, 2014 – 
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® mourns the loss of consumer electronics (CE) industry legend Carl Korn, founder and chairman of Cobra Electronics Corporation, a leading designer and marketer of CE products. The following statement can be attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA:
 
“Carl Korn created and guided a legendary company, serving as a true embodiment of innovation among his peers. He provided support to CEA in many ways, especially by encouraging the participation of Cobra’s leadership within CEA.
 
“Cobra, which started as a small television repair business in Carl’s garage, now sells products in more than 75 countries and 55,000 storefronts. We thank Carl for his service to CEA and the CE industry and for setting an example of entrepreneurship for us all.”
 
Members of Cobra’s leadership team who have shared their time and expertise with CEA over the years include: Jim Bazet, chairman and CEO, Cobra, who currently serves on CEA’s Executive Board and has provided valuable guidance as a member of CEA’s Board of Industry Leaders (BIL); Sally Washlow, president, Cobra, who currently serves as a member of both CEA’s BIL and CEA’s Automotive Electronics Board; and the late Jerry Kalov, former president and CEO, Cobra, who served as an esteemed Industry Executive Advisor (IEA) of CEA’s Executive Board and was elected to the CE Hall of Fame in 2004.
