Arlington, VA – April 24, 2014 –
The following statement can be attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, regarding  the announcement of Meredith Attwell Baker as president and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association:
“Congratulations to Meredith Attwell Baker on her hiring as the next president and CEO of CTIA. Meredith has been a leading voice in the telecommunications industry and will be a tremendous asset to the organization. As FCC Commissioner, she championed spectrum and wireless issues and fearlessly led our country through the DTV transition while leading the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
“With new beginnings also come bittersweet endings. My friend and colleague, Steve Largent, has been a driving force in the wireless world and has led the wireless industry through revolutionary changes. He will be missed.”
