How Brands like Ikea and Nike are Engaging Consumers in Augmented Reality

Augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality are some of the hottest topics in technology right now. Several tech companies have released augmented reality platforms that third-party developers are using to create new apps. Big brands are taking notice and coming up with ways to use this emerging technology to engage with consumers. Here are just a few examples of brands leveraging AR:

Ikea released an AR app that will show users what furniture will look like in their actual space. All they need to do us hold up the phone and use the camera to place the furniture anywhere in the room.
 



Nike developed an app that lets users play around with limited-edition sneakers and then purchase them within the app.

Retail brands such as Burberry are also including AR features in their app that will allow users to digitally redecorate their surroundings with Burberry-inspired artwork. 

Beauty giant L’Oreal created an app for customers to virtually try on different hair or makeup looks before their purchase.
