Consumers Used Their Smartphones to Shop this Black Friday Week

Sara Rice, Social Media Intern, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)

Consumers did a lot of shopping this Black Friday Week (Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday) and for the first time they used smartphones more than any other device. Consumer Technology Association (CTA)’s 2017 Post-Black Friday Week Survey reveals that 41 percent used smartphones to shop online, compared to 38 percent for desktop computers and 34 percent for laptops.

In addition to using tech to shop on Black Friday Week, 57 percent of Americans shopped for tech products such as headphones, TVs and tablets. Technology continues to be one of the most popular categories for consumers, with the most wanted tech gifts including laptops, smartphones and videogame consoles.
