Almost every industry today needs fast internet to conduct transactions, access large volumes of data or stream content. Fast internet is vital to stay competitive in the marketplace. That’s why governors recognize the importance of high-speed broadband and are expanding their networks.

Consider Deleware — a top state according to CTA’s 2017 Innovation Scorecard — a state with the second fastest internet speeds in the country. Since 2009, the state has leveraged public-private partnerships to expand Delaware’s internet infrastructure, creating “more than 700 miles of new fiber optic infrastructure throughout the state.”

"Here in Delaware, we remain focused on promoting innovation, supporting our entrepreneurs and connecting businesses of all sizes with the resources they need to be successful and create good-paying jobs for Delawareans," said Governor John Carney. "We're also working hard to make sure our students have the skills demanded in the 21st century economy, and we'll continue to prioritize investments in services — such as expanding high-speed broadband — that help keep Delaware a competitive place to do business."
