Ford Brings Automation to the Car Repair Experience

Michael Williams, Digital Media Intern, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)

Automated kiosks certainly aren’t new. You can use them to check in to your flight, ship a package and order fast food.  Vehicle maintenance is about to be added to the list.

Ford has partnered with Panasonic (both companies are Consumer Technology Association [CTA] members) to create automated Smart Service Kiosks. In an effort to save time, customers can use the kiosks to drop off or pick up their keys and even obtain a loaner vehicle. The best part? The kiosks are available 24/7.

“At Ford, our goal always is to make customers’ lives better, through both our products and services,” said Brad Brownell, director, Ford Global Distribution Strategy. “Smart Service Kiosk enables Ford customers to drop off, pick up, select and pay for their vehicle service on their time, whether it’s outside of dealership service hours or to avoid waiting in line if the service staff is busy.”
