We Went Gaga for Drones at the Big Game

Michael Williams, Digital Media Intern, Consumer Technology Association

As Tom Brady became the first quarterback in NFL history to lead to his team to five victories at the Big Game, Lady Gaga made a splash of her own at the halftime show.

Though there were no celebrity cameos during the 13-minute medley, the six-time Grammy Award winner had some special guests — a few hundred of them.

In a pre-taped segment, Lady Gaga sang in front of 300 drones from Intel (a Consumer Technology Association [CTA] member and CES exhibitor). The “Shooting Star” drones, which are specifically designed for aerial light shows, formed an American flag before Lady Gaga dove into NRG Stadium.

The singer didn’t exactly put on a “Poker Face” either. Rumors of the drones surfaced Saturday afternoon.
