Tech Replaces Helmets on BMW’s Motorcycle Concept

Michael Williams, Digital Media Intern, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)

The conversation today about vehicle technology is typically dominated by self-driving cars. BMW (a Consumer Technology Association [CTA] member) looks to put motorcycles at the center of attention with its new two-wheel concept.

The Motorrad Vision Next 100 vehicle aims to combine new technologies and connectivity features to change the riding experience.

According to BMW, Motorrad’s systems will offer guidance to avoid incidents and will even take control if necessary. Its self-balancing system prevents the motorcycle from tipping over, even when it’s in motion.

BMW also looks to change the cumbersome gear typically associated with motorcycles. Riders will wear a lightweight visor that will overlay alerts. BMW assures that its intelligent driver assistance features will maintain the thrill of the ride without compromising safety.
