Smartphone ownership in the United States is looking more and more like television ownership — there are almost as many smartphones in the U.S. as there are adults.

Smartphone ownership in the United States is looking more and more like television ownership — there are almost as many smartphones in the U.S. as there are adults! According to Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ research, there are 211 million smartphones in the country, owned by 74 percent of households.


Households that own smartphones now have multiple smartphones per house – an average of 2.4. And 91 percent of smartphone-owning households plan on making a repeat purchase in the near future (who can blame them with the shiny, new devices that come out each year and carrier incentives that enable faster upgrades).
