Google Dreams Up a New VR Platform

Michael Williams, Digital Media Intern, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)

As more and more brands capitalize on the latest trends in virtual reality, Google (a Consumer Technology Association [CTA] member) is getting ready to launch its own platform.

Google Daydream, an Android-based development platform, will host apps and games from your favorite companies. With just a headset, controller and apps, users will get to experience apps and games from YouTube, Hulu, HBO and more in VR.

Daydream isn’t Google’s first foray into VR; its Google Cardboard headset is an easy and accessible way to watch 360-degree videos and photos.

Google Daydream is expected to launch this fall. For more information, visit their website.
