A New-Age Home Theater with Old-Time Flair

Kasey Stanton, Web Content, Coordinator, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™

What do you do if you’re feeling nostalgic for the simplicity of the good old days but still want the quality and sophistication of today’s technology? You find a solution that gives you the best of both worlds. The homeowner of this two-in-one theater spent a great deal of his time remodeling old cars in the garage but still wanted it to be available as a nice place for his family to enjoy. Cue this drive-in home theater complete with upstairs lounge area and all the equipment needed to work on the classic cars.
The main level that houses the cars features a retractable projection screen to maximize space when the room is not being used for movie nights. If the family would rather have a more typical “at-home” experience, the upstairs lounge features a massive 80-inch Samsung TV and plenty of comfortable seating.
The project was a finalist in the Specialty Project of the Year category for the 2015 Mark of Excellence (MOE) System Integrators Awards Program. The Mark of Excellence program recognizes the best in custom integration and installed technology each year. Learn more about applying for the program here.
