PR News Recognizes CEA for Exceptional Nonprofit PR

This week, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) received accolades from PR News 2014 Nonprofit PR Awards for its green PR and advocacy efforts. CEA  earned two awards for the CEA 2013 Sustainability Report in the annual publication category, and for in the green PR category. CEA was selected over several other campaigns by major national organizations, including Sutter Health and APCO Worldwide. is an online resource for consumers to find valuable information about how to buy green electronics, use them efficiently and recycle the devices at the end of their lifecycles. The resource includes a zip code locator to over 8,500 recycling locations across the country and a home consumer electronics energy calculator. In 2013, received approximately 300,000 visits.

CEA’s 2013 Sustainability Report was an update to the sustainability report released in 2010, and highlights industry progress and leadership on green initiatives, from electronics recycling and energy efficiency to updated testing procedures and voluntary stakeholder agreements. This report highlighted the performance of CEA’s 2,000+ member companies and included over two dozen case studies.

CEA also received honorable mentions for the I Am Innovation campaign, part of the Innovation Movement; and was a finalist for PR Team of the Year.
