Disruptive Innovation Council

The Disruptive Innovation Council of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ strives to support the growth of innovative companies developing technologies and services that are disrupting traditional business models and creating new markets.

Key Initiatives

  • Provide support and advocacy to help disruptive innovation companies navigate market and policy challenges.
  • Conduct market research about disruptive innovation technologies, products and services.
  • Provide members with educational and networking opportunities in the disruptive technology space.

How You Can Participate

Regular/Retailer Member Participation Criteria

Your company must excel in at least one of the categories below:

  1. Proven Success
    • Revenues over $25 million
  2. Large Cultural Impact
    • Consumer recognition/household name
    • Mass adoption
    • 10 million users
  3. Uniquely Innovative
    • Created new opportunities where traditional markets didn’t
    • Created a new market
    • Caused an existing market to diminish
    • Solved a problem or provided a non-traditional solution
    • Simplified a commonly used process or service

Startup Member Participation Criteria

  1. Must be a CTA Startup Member (company must meet the following conditions):
    • ​​Annual revenue is under $1 million.
    • North America office or business location.
    • The company has introduced a product, service or app to market within the last year or is planning to do so in the upcoming 12 months.
    • The company has not previously been a CTA member under another membership category.
  2. Must be Uniquely Innovative (company must excel in at least one of the following areas):
    • Created new opportunities where traditional markets didn’t
    • Created a new market
    • Caused an existing market to diminish
    • Solved a problem or provided a non-traditional solution
    • Simplified a commonly used process or service
