Welcome to the 2013 International CES! These four days of CES energize me for the entire year. CES, owned and produced by CEA, is the most influential gathering of consumer electronics (CE) professionals around the world.
More technology deals are done at CES than anywhere, with buyers, investors, analysts and media able to meet with customers and partners all in one place. This year, the CES Tuesday-Friday pattern helps make it a productive workweek.
To see innovation in action, just walk the show floor, packed with 3,000 exhibitors across more than 1.8 million net square feet of space highlighting the newest products and services. We are expecting 150,000 attendees, including 35,000 international visitors, to come to Las Vegas to see what is new, expand their businesses and understand new technology. And more than 30,000 buyers come to the show to decide what will be on store shelves this year.
Two areas you won’t want to miss at The Venetian are the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase that honors exceptional achievements in product and engineering design, and Eureka Park, where entrepreneurs launch new products, services and ideas. As the showcase for the world’s most engaging new technologies, from apps to tablets, electric vehicles to Ultra High-Definition TV, CES also features more than 20 themed TechZones.
Because the show includes 15 product areas, like digital entertainment, wireless, digital imaging, computing and networking, audio, video and accessories – there is something for everyone. And automakers like Audi, Chrysler, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru and Toyota demonstrate how the CE world is merging with automotive ingenuity.
Speaking of originality, here at CES we are launching a new book, Ninja Innovation, and our new magazine It Is Innovation (i3), which captures the entrepreneurial spirit of the CE industry – innovation in start-ups, ideas, strategies, leadership, policy and technologies that are in the pipeline. The magazine also supports CEA’s Innovation Movement and the belief that innovation is America’s best hope for prosperity.
While you are at CES, network, attend keynotes and sessions, and explore the show floor to see innovation from the best companies in the world. From January 8-11, CES is the premiere venue for consumer technology and you will walk away as revitalized as I do. Visit CESweb.org at the show for the latest updates.
