CEA grows the industry by helping to educate consumers and the media about new technologies. Promotional campaigns support product categories such as audio, home networking, digital imaging, wireless communications and accessories as well as the latest CE trends like Ultra HDTV, connected cars and digital health devices.
CEA invites member companies to participate in these promotional programs, as a way to highlight consumer technology in the media and promote sales of CE products and services at retail. CEA promotional activities include:

CEA’s Innovation Movement  is open to all Americans who believe that innovation is the backbone of our economy and the foundation of our future prosperity. Innovation Movement members advocate for pro-innovation, pro-business policies, namely skilled immigration reform, federal deficit reduction, ubiquitous broadband development and free trade agreements.

Introducing the CEA Foundation

In 2012, the CEA Foundation launched its effort to link seniors and people with disabilities with technology to enhance their lives. In its first year of operation, the CEA Foundation supported Selfhelp Community Services with the expansion of its Virtual Senior Center that enables homebound seniors to remain active and socially engaged. The CEA Foundation was also able to support a variety of organizations using technology in innovative ways to assist individuals with disabilities. Digital Answer Man Tour®

CEA’s Digital Answer Man Tour, featuring Jim Barry, promotes CEA members’ products and services for free to millions of consumers across the country. The tour raises consumer interest about new products, helps drive consumers into local retail stores and provides CEA members with free national media coverage. The tour has been featured on CNN Headline NewsBusiness Week, CNN, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. In 2012, Barry visited more than 50 cities, conducting over 200 media interviews and reaching more than 15 million consumers. Barry continues to promote the CE industry and educate consumers about CEA member products.

CE Cares is a social responsibility campaign that brings together CEA’s initiatives to protect and promote the health and safety of consumers. CE Cares is a commitment to technology consumers that the CE industry deserves their trust. The campaign is about protecting consumers – from tips for safe television placement and safe listening to responsible use of in-vehicle electronics.

eCycling Leadership Initiative

The eCycling Leadership Initiative seeks to heighten consumer awareness of the nearly 7,500 collection sites sponsored by the industry, increase the amount of electronics recycled responsibly, increase the number of collection opportunities available and provide transparent metrics on eCycling efforts. CEA also launched GreenerGadgets.org and an associated communications and marketing campaign to inform consumers about electronics recycling locations, energy efficiency of electronics devices, and other eco-friendly uses of CE products.

International CES Press Services

CEA promotes members’ products before, during and after CES. CEA can help members develop a successful CES strategy with pre-show promotions, on-site press conferences and the pre-registered press list.

Honoring Excellence

CEA’s awards programs recognize the achievements of industry leaders and innovative products and technologies. Awards programs include:
  • CE Hall of Fame: Founded in 2000, the CE Hall of Fame honors the outstanding achievements of leaders in the CE industry. Inductees are recognized at an awards dinner at the CEA Industry Forum. At the 13th annual CE Hall of Fame awards ceremony last October, 12 industry leaders joined the 170 inventors, engineers, retailers, journalists and entrepreneurs who have provided innovative products and services that entertain, inform and connect consumers.
  • Innovation Entrepreneur Awards: CEA’s Small Business Council (SBC) and It Is Innovation (i3) magazine launched this awards program in 2012. The awards are designed to recognize two exceptional small companies and one executive. The 2012 winners of the Innovation Entrepreneur Awards, honored at CEA’s Industry Forum, were ecoATM, GrandCare Systems, and Polk Audio Co-Founder Sandy Gross.
  • Digital Patriots: The Digital Patriot Awards dinner honors industry and government leaders for their positive impact on the consumer technology industry. Proceeds from the 2012 dinner benifitted the Ron Brown Scholar Program, which provides scholarships and support to African-American high school seniors.
  • Innovations Design and Engineering Awards: The Innovations Awards program recognizes products that feature excellence in design and engineering at the International CES. The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) endorses and acts as advisors to the Design & Engineering Showcase. Learn more at: CESweb.org/Innovations.
