CEA Hails Unanimous FCC Support of Incentive Auctions
Arlington, VA – 05/16/2012 – All five Federal Communications Commission commissioners today voiced their support for voluntary incentive spectrum auctions during a Senate Commerce Committee hearing.
Julie Kearney, vice president of regulatory affairs of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, released the following statement regarding this sweeping support:
“The FCC’s universal support for voluntary incentive auctions is encouraging, and we look forward to working with the full five-member commission and FCC staff on this technology policy imperative. Our nation’s  ability to create jobs and grow our economy hinges our on our ability to innovate and embrace new technologies, and spectrum is crucial to our success as a global technology leader. Furthermore, our nation is facing a spectrum crunch because of surging sales of smartphones and tablets, and access to more spectrum is necessary to confront this challenge.”
