CEA Announces Executive Promotion
Arlington, VA – 04/06/2012 – Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® president and CEO Gary Shapiro today announced that Laurie Lutz has been promoted to vice president, CES operations. Lutz oversees the International CES’ relationships with the Las Vegas community as well as the day-to-day operations and attendee services for the International CES, the world's largest tradeshow for consumer technology.

"I am thrilled to announce this promotion as it reflects a significant milestone in Laurie’s exceptional career. I met Laurie in 2001 at an exhibition industry event where I presented and she was interested enough in CEA to join us from a great job with Reed in Connecticut,” Shapiro said. “Laurie not only runs the operations of the largest annual exhibition in the Americas, but she has put together a first-class team (entirely female) who deals effectively with over 3000 exhibitors, unions, hotels and two of the America’s ten largest convention centers. She sets the standard for service and competence and has helped make International CES a global event. Our operational excellence and world-class reputation directly flows from the cutting edge professionalism Laurie brings to her job. Plus, Laurie has an amazing attitude and the entire CEA staff has embraced Laurie and her beautiful twin daughters.  Promotions are always a pleasure to announce – but this one is a personal delight!”

Laurie began her career at CEA in 2001 as director of CES operations. In 2005 she was promoted to senior director.

“Laurie is an innovative thinker,” says Karen Chupka, Senior VP, Events and Conferences.  “She constantly looks for better solutions and creatively thinks of new offerings for our exhibitors.”

Prior to joining CEA, Lutz was an operations manager with Reed Exhibitions in Norwalk, CT and started her career as a conference coordinator with Ullo International.  In addition to being a member a champion for CES green initiatives, Lutz is a member of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC). In 2010, she was named one of Dealerscope Magazine’s 40 under 40 notable young executives in the consumer technology industry.
