CEA: Federal Drone Registration Must Balance Safety Requirements and Fundamental American Rights

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, regarding the Department of Transportation's plan to require drone registration: "To ensure aviation safety, consumer privacy rights, innovation and jobs in this nascent industry, any federally mandated product registration system should be imposed narrowly to accomplish true safety goals. New federal government requirements for reporting of product ownership must be balanced against factors including convenience, data integrity and privacy."

Winners of First CEA Foundation Tech that Improves Lives Video Contest Announced

The CEA Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of its first ‘technology that improves lives’ video contest.  Aipoly, HelpAround, Los Angeles Low Vision, Perceptive Devices and WHILL were selected from more than 20 entries from companies showing off technology that has a positive impact on older adults and people with disabilities.  Each winner will receive a booth in Eureka Park during CES 2016 and $2,500. CEA: More Americans Plan to Purchase Tech Amid Record-Setting Holiday Season

New research from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® shows that 65 percent of all Americans, roughly 160 million people, are planning to buy tech gifts this holiday season, a steady increase over last year. According to the 22nd Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study, emerging technologies continue to drive growth in the tech industry, with one in three holiday shoppers (33 percent) looking to purchase an emerging tech product- such as smart home devices, wearable activity trackers and drones- during the 2015 holiday season.  Full Release
