Spectrum Auction Exceeds Expectations, Raises Nearly $45 Billion

Today the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) closed bidding in its auction of the AWS-3 spectrum band, bringing in nearly $45 billion for the United States Treasury. The record-breaking auction far exceeded the FCC’s initial estimate of just over $10 billion, showing the massive size of the spectrum economy.
