CEA and Carriers Partner on PlugFest For Network and IoT Compatibility

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced the successful completion of the first IPv6 PlugFest to combine carriers, consumer electronics (CE) companies and industry groups – enabling CE manufacturers to test their devices with the carrier networks and the customer premise equipment supplied to millions of American homes. For the technical event, CEA partnered with AT&T, Comcast, Verizon Wireless, the University of New Hampshire’s InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), and UPnP Forum. “This kind of event is essential to resolve the myriad of small details needed for true, efficient interoperability,” said Brian Markwalter, senior vice president of Research & Standards, CEA. CEA Announces New Record for eCycling Leadership Initiative: 660 Million Pounds Recycled in 2014

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced a new milestone for consumer electronics (CE) recycling under the eCycling Leadership Initiative (ELI): The responsible recycling of 660 million pounds of electronics in the United States in 2014, the CE industry’s highest ever annual total. The U.S. is now recycling CE products in record numbers, according to the Fourth Annual Report of the eCycling Leadership Initiative – a CE industry effort, led by CEA, to increase collaboration among CE manufacturers, retailers, collectors, recyclers, non-governmental organizations and governments at all levels and to continue to increase the industry's sustainability efforts. “Since the first year of the eCycling Leadership Initiative, we’ve continued to see strong gains in the amount of electronics recycled and resources available for consumers to recycle their old devices,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA.
